Three Regions of Colombia

Colombia has many different regions, and each one is unique. On the coast of the Caribbean Sea, the weather is hot and sunny all year. The cities there are busy and colorful. In contrast, the mountain region of the Andes is much cooler and has green valleys. People grow coffee on the slopes of the mountains.

There is also a huge jungle in the southeast part of the country. The Amazon region covers a lot of land and is full of rivers and wild animals. It is wetter and hotter than the mountain area. Finally, there is the island region of San Andres. This small island is far from the mainland, but its beaches are very beautiful.

Each province or region offers something different for travelers. The coast is great for swimming, the mountains are good for hiking, and the jungle is perfect for explorers.

Compare Regions

"Work with a partner. Use comparatives (bigger, smaller, hotter, colder, wetter, drier) to compare two different regions or provinces in your country. Start with one fact, then add more differences."

πŸ‘‰ Choose two regions from your country (for example, a coastal region and a mountain region).

πŸ‘‰ Say one way they are different. Use a comparative: 'The coast is hotter than the mountains.'

πŸ‘‰ Add more details: talk about size, weather, population, or activities.

πŸ‘‰ Switch roles and let your partner compare two other regions.
