Learn past simple by telling a story about a minor accident. Practice describing what happened and what you learned.
Last Saturday, I went to the park with my friend Brian. We played soccer near the big tree. Suddenly, Brian tripped on a root and took a bad fall. He cried out and held his knee. I ran to him and saw a little blood on his shorts.
"Don't worry," I said. "I have a first aid kit." I took out a bandage and put it on his knee. The bleeding stopped, but his knee looked swollen. "I think we need to call your mom," I said. Brian agreed. I used my phone to call his mother.
She came quickly. She looked at his knee and said, "Let's go to the hospital for a check." We went to the hospital. The doctor cleaned the cut and put a new bandage on it. He said Brian was okay, but he should rest for two days.
After that, we learned to be more careful. I always carry a first aid kit now. And I check the ground before playing. It was a small accident, but it taught us an important lesson: safety first!
"In pairs, act out an emergency scenario. One person is the helper, the other is hurt. Use vocabulary words and past simple. Switch roles after the first scene."
👉 Student A: Tell Student B you had an accident. Describe what happened (e.g., fell, cut, blood).
👉 Student B: Ask questions (e.g., "Where does it hurt?", "Did you call a doctor?") and help (e.g., get a bandage, call for help).
👉 Switch roles and repeat with a different accident (e.g., a fall at school, a kitchen burn).
Write about a minor accident you or someone you know experienced. First, describe where and when it happened. Then, explain what happened step by step (use past simple). End with what you learned. Write 80-100 words.
Record a 45-second talk. Pretend you are calling 911 to report an accident. Start with WHERE the accident happened. Describe the person's injury (fall, blood, etc.). Tell what help is needed. End by saying your name.
